Brownie Girl Scouts set to begin...this means cookies.

This week, I went to a meeting about Brownies.  I am helping Georgia's Daisy Petals troop leader as a co-leader.  Like last year, there is a lot of interest and we have enough leaders to separate the girls into two troops.  Should be a fun year.  This photo is from a Daisy Petals party last year.

Pierced Ears!!!

Georgia has been talking about getting her ears pierced for a while and today was the day.  She chose a pair of birthstone earrings to start with and a group of animal earrings for when she is ready to remove the starters.  Frugal Father is still reeling from the sticker shock.  He seems to think the price should not have changed from when he was a youth so many years ago.  

Class photo album pages

All of the second grade classes are putting together photo albums that will feature 2 pages for each child.  We were a little late getting to this (just finished and it is due tomorrow) but I think Georgia likes what we pulled together.  

Scrapbooking is not my thing so this is as good as it will get!  

Milestone

Tante came over tonight to play with G while we went to parents' night at school.   Brian and Georgia have been working on riding the bike without training wheels and she was making some good progress on the sidewalk.  Tante took her to a parking lot where 2 school friends happened to be riding bikes and she took off!

 Peer pressure...it's a good thing.  Sometimes.  

Back to School (and Back to Blogging)

Georgia started second grade today!
She was definitely more excited than nervous.  

She looked very cute in her new pink top with her skirt (made by me!)
and new shoes, which she loves.  

She chose a cute little necklace with a dog charm and she is quite taken with it.  

I look forward to hearing all about her day when I pick her up!

Work In Progress: Painting our bedroom

This morning we started a project for the long weekend: painting our bedroom.

Here are some "before" photos:

We decided to paint the walls Heavy Cream and the ceiling Lagoon, both by Martha Stewart Paints.  So far, we love the results!  We didn't realize how dark the old color was until we saw it next to the cream.  Once we get the ceiling completed (we are getting ready to paint a second coat), Brian will cut in at the top of the wall.  An unorthadox technique, maybe to cut in last but we wanted to finish this weekend.  I honestly don't know what people usually do with painting but this works for us.



I better get upstairs before Brian yells down for me.  More photos later! 

New Pillows/Cushions (+ dogs)

I've kept myself busy making pillows for our couch.  I am done, now, because three is about all Brian can handle.  I think he likes the new pillows, but could do with a little less pink.  Georgia and I, however, adore the pink!  As she would say, the pink POPS!!

Like most families, we are back to work and school this week.  We had a great holiday break/vacation.  In fact, I wished that Georgia could have stayed home a couple more days!  Anyway, we are back to the regular routine, which, for Tucker and Gus, involves a whole lotta this:
